Overcoming Setbacks on My Health Journey: Strategies for Mind and Gut Wellness
Introduction
The past few weeks have been challenging for my health journey. October brought ups and downs that led me to revert to old habits. I was overexercising, undereating, and feeling negative. But I'm grateful to have the tools to turn this around, learn from the experience, and move forward. My journey is never a straight line, and as a control freak, I'm learning to let go. When I do, it feels amazing!
Gut Health Supplement Essentials
Stress, overexercising, and undereating can wreak havoc on our guts. I felt bloated, constipated, and swollen. I knew I had to make changes, so I focused on my gut health.
- Probiotics: The gut health supplement I take is called Ameo Life probiotics and I take it twice daily, right when I wake up and after dinner. They've helped heal my gut from years of restriction.
- Hydration: Staying hydrated is crucial, especially with how much I sweat. Water helps break down food and prevents constipation. I aim to drink more in the morning and afternoon.
- Fiber-Rich Foods: While focusing on protein for muscle growth and recovery, I realized I wasn't getting enough fiber. I reincorporated fiber-rich foods like raspberries, avocados, broccoli, apples, sweet potatoes, chia seeds, spinach, nuts, seeds, and whole grains.
Pumpkin Chia Seed Pudding Recipe:
- 2 T chia seeds
- 1/2 cup milk of choice
- 2 T Ameo Life Silver Solution
- 1/3 cup pumpkin puree
- 1 T maple syrup or honey
- 1/4 tsp pumpkin spice or cinnamon
Mix everything in a jar, refrigerate overnight, mix again, and enjoy!
Mindset Matters
As a control freak, slowing down and letting go is challenging. But with age, I've realized the importance of deep breaths, self-grace, and trusting my body. Worrying only makes things worse, especially when it comes to my body image. I took time to walk by the ocean, be outside, relax, and remind myself that not every day, week, or month is perfect. Our bodies are always changing, and sometimes they just need a moment.
Conclusion
After a week and a half of focusing on these strategies, I feel better both physically and mentally. Happy gut equals happy me! The work works when you're willing to do it. Remember, setbacks are a part of the journey. What matters is how we learn from them and keep moving forward.
